3.30.2011

The museum is staying busy preparing for our "Roanoke Valley in the 1960's" event. On May 12th, a brand new exhibit will open, consisting of 1960's memorabilia, newspaper articles, clothes, and much more. This will be a permanent exhibit, but come out and be one of the first to see it! We will be at Roanoke Rapids High School on May 13th,  premiering our 1960's documentary film. A lot of effort has been put into the film by students from the high school, and we are very excited to have the community come out and see the end result. And finally, on May 14th we will be on the museum lawn rocking out to music of the 60's with our very own band "The What", along with several other entertainers. Our band members from RRHS have all put a lot of time and effort in to get the band going, and are very excited to perform. This is going to be a great night for the whole family with food, music, and lots of fun.

Tickets for all 3 days of the event are on sale now and going fast! For just $10, you can get an all-access pass, which gives you admission to all 3 days; the exhibit opening, film premier, and concert. Additionally, pass holders will get VIP seating at the concert. Individual tickets can be purchased for each days event, and are $5 each. We are fully expecting each day to sell out, so get your tickets now! Call the museum at 252-537-2769 to get your tickets!

Coming up on April 20th, at 6:30pm, Christopher Wright, humanities professor at Halifax Community College, will present "The Music of the 1960s".
