Come out and enjoy the Canal Trail!

Autumn is in the air and the leaves are changing colors. There's a cool breeze blowing, the sun is shining and the birds are singing. It's a great time to come and take a leisurely walk along the canal trail! Bring a picnic lunch and eat at the picnic area outside of the Museum, and while you're there come in and visit and learn about the history of the canal. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9-4. Admission is $4 for non-county residents, $2 for county residents, and kids 8 and under are free!

The mountain biking club will continue to meet at 9am on Saturdays at the Museum. All ages and skill levels are welcome to ride.

We are continuing to plan the "Night at the Museum" event. Tickets are now on sale at the Museum at the cost of $5 each. This will be a great family event with food, a movie, and characters from history that have come to life! We look forward to having a great time, and hope you will join us!

Haunted Trail was a spooky success!

The Haunted Trail hosted by the Roanoke Canal Museum was a great success! Nearly 600 people came out over the course of 2 nights and walked the ghoulish trail. Winding through the dark woods, the trail came alive with ghosts and goblins, with plenty of scary surprises along the way. Lots of fun was had by all and we are already looking forward to next year. A big thanks goes out to everyone who participated, it would not have been possible without everyone's help.

The Mountain Biking Club has been moved to Saturdays, as we are losing too much daylight to continue riding on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will meet at the Museum at 9am on Saturday mornings. Come join us! If you have not signed up but are interested in riding, you can sign up at the Museum or on our website, www.roanokecanal.com. People of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to ride. It is a great way to enjoy the trail and get some exercise!

Our "Night at the Museum" event will be coming up shortly. It is scheduled for Dec. 3rd, and tickets will be available starting Monday, Nov. 8th. For one special night the Museum will come to life! More info is available on our website and at the Museum. This will be a great family event and we hope to see you there!
